ETABLISSEMENTS VINET : A Success Story in Loire-Atlantique
Vinet is a company located in Machecoul in France's Loire-Atlantique region.
The company produces corn salad in nursery beds with a total length of
more than a million meters. Vinet has contracted another company,
Bonduelle, to transform the produce on the spot for the major
distributors.
Currently
the corn salad is produced in Nantes-style nursery beds in the open
under Nantes-type arches covered with a 50-micron film and shade
netting. Vinet has bought greenhouses for 2 hectares (5 acres),
including industrial Multichapelle units for one hectare, in order to
run production tests in sheltered conditions.
This project must be
assessed in terms of its economic and agronomic perspectives. Filclair
proposed a Multiclair 250 DPS multispan greenhouse with a 9.60 m wide
center span. With this model, sophisticated field-crop production is
possible, and its climate control is capable of satisfying the
project's economic requirements.
• The size of the proposed greenhouse is suitable for the mechanized equipment used today in the open.
• The five-bed system per central span means that the plant-care
treatments can be carried out symmetrically on both sides of the
central bed.
o The volume of the greenhouse limits temperature fluctuations, and
therefore promotes regular, high-grade development with uniform plant
density.
• The pluviometric control can help to reduce the work of tending the
beds. The bed will be wider because the earthing-up space has been
gained.
• The climate control allows the operator to work in good conditions for production.
The
Multiclair 250 Series is a complete product capable of genuine
agronomic control, which is why Vinet chose to set up one hectare of
DPS units. This experimental installation will be used to validate the
agronomic options, as faultless and constant quality is a must when
supplying the major distributors.
